Mac Attack

Mac Attack

In 1984, the hot-headed tennis player John McEnroe was given a signature sneaker by Nike, the Mac Attacks. The name described McEnroe’s aggressive tendencies on the court, expressed in the silhouette of the sneaker, with the bold line on the bulky toe box, suiting the seven Grand Slammer’s bad-boy character. While the Mac Attacks were discontinued with no expectations of retro releases, celebrities like Travis Scott and Lebron James were able to bring back attention to the cult classic, inspiring the team to recreate the silhouette.
